The Department of Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies (ACIT Department) is a part of the Academic and Research Institute of Energy, Information, and Transport Infrastructure of O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv. It is graduating and preparing for bachelor's and master's in specialty 151 "Automation and computer-integrated technologies". We train highly qualified specialists and teach:
- create, use, and maintain modern automated control systems for production processes and Embedded-solutions based on the latest microprocessor devices;
- develop software, hardware, and information support for automated control systems,
- design and manage modern industrial-technological computer systems and networks;
- develop software and hardware complexes for production and business;
- plan, optimize, and intellectualize production processes.
Graduates will gain skills in developing information processing and management systems using modern programming languages, network solutions, hardware platforms, and software products from leading world manufacturers.
The educational and laboratory base of the department is located on the sixth floor of the electrical engineering building of the university. The department is equipped with four modern laboratories for classrooms and independent classes of students with robotic equipment, industrial controllers, and Internet of Things equipment. All this allows graduates to successfully work as developers of software and hardware for robotics, embedded systems, cars, and smart homes, occupy senior positions in automation and metrology departments, as well as realize themselves as Embedded Developers, Hardware engineers, Software Developers, Machine learning engineer / Data Scientist, Mobile Developer, System Administrator, DevOps, Project Manager, etc.
The teaching staff of the department are highly qualified specialists in the field of mechanical engineering, automation, and instrumentation. The teachers of the department constantly improve the educational and methodological base of disciplines by developing new textbooks and manuals, guidelines, and programs of academic disciplines that meet the requirements of current legislation, and the needs of the markets of the region and Ukraine.
In order to form a modern approach to the provision of educational services, teachers of the department are working on the preparation of distance learning courses and placing them on the Moodle platform.
The department consistently develops scientific and practical directions that logically follow from the existing resources and knowledge of the department and are integrated into Industry 4.0. They provide a holistic view of the technological basis of modern digital manufacturing, including both the means of solving existing technological problems and the understanding of business problems that can be solved by automatic control technologies.
